Bingham, Nottinghamshire 8th September 2026 – Global HSE Group appointed Matthew Clayton as Building Safety Compliance Manager, strengthening its support for clients navigating Building Regulations duties and the practical challenges of managing compliance throughout design and construction.
Matt joins Global with more than 25 years of experience across facilities management, the Built environment and safety.
His multidisciplinary background includes Building Regulations, design engineering, civil and structural engineering, fire and process safety, accessibility, risk management and construction. This breadth of experience gives Matt a practical understanding of how regulatory, design and construction requirements need to work together rather than being treated in isolation.
In his new role, Matt will work within Global HSE Group’s Building Safety Compliance team, supporting clients with their Building Regulations responsibilities and providing practical guidance around the role of the Building Regulations Principal Designer (BRPD).
Global’s BRPD services have been developed to reflect the different levels of support clients and project teams may require. The business can undertake the statutory Building Regulations Principal Designer role, supported where required by Gateway Management and applications to the Building Safety Regulator.
For organisations that have taken on the BRPD role themselves but need additional technical support, Global also provides a Building Regulations Principal Designer Adviser service, helping the appointed organisation understand and fulfil its responsibilities.
A separate Building Regulations Principal Designer Assurance service is available to clients seeking independent oversight of their project team, providing greater confidence that Building Regulations duties and compliance requirements are being managed appropriately.
Andrew Cooper, Managing Director of Global HSE Group, said:
“Building Regulations responsibilities are becoming more complex, and clients need confidence that they have the right competence and support around them. Matthew’s experience across regulation, design, construction and risk management will be a real asset to our Building Safety Compliance team and, importantly, to the clients we support.”
Commenting on his appointment, Matthew Clayton said:
“Building Regulations compliance involves much more than completing paperwork at the end of a project. It needs to be considered properly from the outset, with clear responsibilities, good coordination and the right information being captured along the way.
I’m looking forward to working with the team at Global and helping clients make sense of their responsibilities. My experience has taken me across a wide range of disciplines and sectors, and I hope that broader perspective will be useful when helping project teams identify issues early and find practical ways forward.”
Matt’s appointment forms part of Global HSE Group’s continued investment in its Building Safety Compliance services, giving clients access to different levels of BRPD support, advice and independent assurance according to the needs of their projects.
